2017–18 Special Projects

Click to support the EPC   Click to support World Outreach

As the EPC continues to grow as a denomination, we have seen God tremendously bless our early efforts on the four “Transfer to Transformation” strategic initiatives that help determine our ministry priorities:

  1. Promote and resource church planting
  2. Promote and resource church revitalization
  3. Create a structure suitable for a global movement
  4. Create a leadership development culture

These 2017-18 (July 1, 2017–June 30, 2018) Special Projects were approved by the 37th General Assembly and are a tangible way that we can focus on these areas. They range from local to international, from an individual or two to an entire people group or region. They all represent a ministry opportunity that fits within one or more of these four areas of emphasis.

Each of the projects has a challenging—but reachable—financial goal. If every EPC church invested just $6.83 per member, all of these projects will be fully funded. Please prayerfully consider how you can support financially these causes that represent and promote the vision and values of the EPC.

CHURCH PLANTING AND REVITALIZATION

CHURCH PLANTING INITIATIVES

Planting new EPC churches in North America is one of the primary means of accomplishing transformational growth. Gifts to this fund also help provide oversight of church planter assessing, equipping, and the church planter application process.

EPC FOUNDATION

The EPC Foundation assembles training, tools, and processes to help EPC churches support their vision and that of the EPC. The Foundation primarily does this by expanding access to difficult-to-harvest resources like non-cash items and assets. The Foundation also seeks to enable generous givers to simplify and multiply their impact through their church, the EPC, or favorite ministries and charitable organizations. NEXT GENERATION MINISTRIES

NEXT GENERATION MINISTRIES
Project ID: NGM-062
Goal: $10,000

The Next Generation Ministries purpose is to equip, encourage, and shepherd church leadership to evangelize and disciple the Next Generation from birth through young adulthood. To that end, this fund serves to support a variety of leadership development opportunities for ministry leaders and college students. It also supports the Next Generation strategy to connect and network ministry leaders throughout the denomination and with our ministry partners, such as the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) and Refomed Youth Ministries (RYM). The ministry leaders who are affected by this support are usually the non-pastoral staff of a church, such as the Children’s Ministry Director, the Student Ministry Director, or their volunteers and interns.

STUDENT AND COLLEGE MINISTRIES LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Project ID: SCM-022
Goal: $10,000

EPC Student and College Ministries, soon to be part of Next Generation Ministries, exists to serve those who are called by God to reach and disciple students through the local church, presbyteries, and beyond. This fund serves leaders by responding to their ideas and needs to EQUIP leaders with development, training, and coaching; PROVIDE ministry resources and opportunities; and CONNECT ministry leaders to one another (full and part-time staff, volunteers, and parents).

COLLEGE CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS
Project ID: SCM-025
Goal: $2,500

This fund will provide scholarships to encourage high school seniors and college students who are connected to EPC churches to attend Christian conferences that will help them discern God’s will for their lives, and to further develop them as leaders who live out their Christian faith in every area of life. Examples of such conferences would be Urbana and Jubilee.

WORLD OUTREACH

ENGAGE 2025: CHURCH PLANTING TEAMS IN THE MUSLIM WORLD
Project ID: WO-434
Goal: $30,000

The goal of Engage 2025 is for each EPC presbytery to engage with a Muslim people group that currently has no churches, and send a team of disciple-makers to them by the year 2025. Finances from this project will be used for the development of these teams within presbyteries; research; and training, coaching, and care for team members.

MUSLIM MINISTRIES IN THE UNITED STATES
Project ID: WO-450
Goal: $15,000

Muslim refugees, immigrants, and international students (some representing unreached people groups that our Engage 2025 initiatives are focused on) are now our neighbors. This fund will be used to train and support EPC congregations reaching their Muslim neighbors with the good news of Jesus Christ.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AS MISSION
Project ID: WO-459
Goal: $30,000

Committed Jesus-followers who start profit-making businesses (which provide employment and services to their communities) and who make disciples are powerful agents for gospel transformation where the church does not exist. As World Outreach’s new IBAM Coordinator begins his work, funds from this account will be used to develop IBAM services for WO IBAM practitioners.

ITEN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
Project ID: WO-490
Goal: $20,000

EPC World Outreach’s ITEN (International Theological Education Network) trains leaders globally to help them train and send their own missionaries to unreached people groups, especially among Muslims. These funds will be used primarily to teach and train national partners (with a smaller portion being used to train stateside teachers how to become effective trainers of nationals). ITEN’s careful support of influential teacher-leaders, along with our supply of effective materials in native languages, makes a huge positive impact without corrupting motives, creating dependency, or diminishing self-support.

MEDICAL MINISTRIES
Project ID: WO-454
Goal: $10,000

This fund will be used to promote and resource medical ministries from our churches and presbyteries to assist the ministry of EPC global workers and partner agencies. Medical teams have often opened communities to be receptive to the gospel. Some of our churches already have significant experience in executing successful medical ministry teams. Many of our churches have gifted and experienced medical personnel among their membership who have time available for short-term overseas involvement.

PRESBYTERY OF THE BAHAMAS DEVELOPMENT
Project ID: WO-462
Goal: $25,000

These funds will be used to further development of a new presbytery in the Bahamas in partnership between EPC World Outreach, the Presbytery of Florida, and churches in the Bahamas.

ETHIOPIA—YOUTH CENTER PROJECT
Project ID: WO-491
Goal: $50,000

The youth center acclaimed as “most successful in the country” operates under the direction of WO global worker John N, and provides daily Christian mentorship for hundreds of Ethiopian youth. These funds will be used for operating costs.

FRANCE—CHRISTIAN SCHOOL PROJECT
Project ID: WO-494
Goal: $50,000

Our World Outreach global workers are part of a team that has started a Christian K-12 school in France as part of their church-planting strategy. These funds will be used to renovate the school building.

LEBANON—PHILEMON PRESCHOOL PROJECT
Project ID: WO-458
Goal: $75,000

The Philemon Project provides the very best Christian-led, early childhood development for at-risk, economically disadvantaged Lebanese, Syrian refugee, and migrant children. Working in conjunction with the National Evangelical Church of Beirut, and focusing on children ages 1-4, project staff also mentor parents to help at-risk families develop healthy relationships.

SIERRA LEONE—SCHOOLS AND PRESBYTERY
Project ID: WO-489
Goal: $5,000

An initiative of the Presbytery of the Alleghenies to this poverty-stricken West African nation has launched schools, which have birthed churches, which have planted more churches. These funds will be used to support the ministry of the schools, as well as to assist national church planters.

SE ASIA—COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CHURCH PLANT
Project ID: WO-461
Goal: $50,000

Our church-planting team, sent out by the Presbytery of the West, has launched a mariculture project in Southeast Asia. This project is based around building and running a large-scale marine hatchery, and provides a clear identity for church planters on the team, abundant natural contact with locals, and economic development for the local community.

MISSIONARY MEMBER CARE
Project ID: WO-483
Goal: $40,000

Missionary Member Care provides quality care for the EPC World Outreach community. These funds will be used to enhance the caring skills of the WO Member Care staff, EPC presbyteries, and local church mission committees.
