EPC World Outreach

World Outreach is the missions mobilizing and sending arm of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. From its birth, the EPC established World Outreach to enable the EPC to be a missional family of churches.

Fast-forward 35 years and World Outreach now has global workers living in nearly 30 countries around the globe. Most of our workers focus their efforts in what is known as the "10/40 Window"—that area of the world (typically thought of as a large swath extending from North Africa across the Middle East to Central and Southeast Asia) with little or no access to the gospel—or with peoples who originated in or have emigrated from this region. Though not our exclusive focus, we have intentionally emphasized those places and peoples who are yet unreached with the gospel, who have historically been resistant to the gospel message, or among whom the church has not yet been established.

We accomplish our work in two ways:

  1. Sending teams directly out under World Outreach to work in designated EPC-focus fields around the world
  2. Sending global workers from World Outreach to join teams from other mission agencies, working with them under Cooperative Agreements in order to partner together to advance the work of the Kingdom.

VISION

Full-Cycle Church Planting

Our global vision is to glorify God through full-cycle church planting that firmly establishes the Church of Jesus Christ among the least-reached peoples on earth, with a primary focus on the Muslim world. This vision leads us to work in those places where people groups have never heard—and cultures have not yet been transformed by—the gospel and therefore there is no established, viable church.

We believe the goal of missions is that God be glorified as Christ’s Church is established, and worshippers are gathered from every tribe, language, and nation. Our work focuses on planting churches, equipping those churches and their leaders to grow to maturity, enabling them to reproduce themselves in their own culture, imparting a vision to send their own people as cross-cultural missionaries, and partnering with them to do so. Where possible, we seek to plant churches that are Reformed and covenantal, as we believe that is the clearest—though not the only—expression of biblical teaching.

To accomplish this purpose, we have committed ourselves to:

  • Faithful proclamation of the gospel to the nations until the Lord returns
  • Fervent prayer for the evangelization of the world
  • Active participation in that glorious task through ministries of Word and deed

We also pursue strategic global partnerships that advance the full cycle of church planting where the church has already been established, and we pursue ministries that support and equip our missionary church planters and national church leaders, and which mobilize the people and churches of the EPC with a compelling mission vision.

CORE VALUES

The foundation of World Outreach is the written Word of God. Building upon that foundation, we commit ourselves to:

  • Faithful proclamation of the gospel to the nations until the Lord returns
  • Fervent prayer for the evangelization of the world
  • Active participation in that glorious task through ministries of word and deed

Seeking to be sensitive and responsive to the Holy Spirit’s work throughout the world, we pray that God will use us to:

  • Gather God’s people, scattered among the peoples of the earth, into the Church of Jesus Christ
  • Establish and develop indigenous Reformed churches that relate to one another in a connectional manner and that relate to their context in a biblically faithful and culturally compelling way
  • Identify, train, and develop national leadership from and for the indigenous churches
  • Equip and motivate indigenous churches to participate in cross-cultural missions

Pursuing these goals, we will endeavor to:

  • Engage the participation of every member of the EPC in fulfilling the goals of our mission
  • Partner with other evangelical churches and organizations to demonstrate the unity of the Body of Christ
  • Administer entrusted resources in an efficient and effective manner with full accountability
  • Provide excellent care for our global workers, caring for them as family, and doing all that we can to ensure their spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being as individuals, families, and teams

As the missions arm of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, we are also committed to the constitutional documents of our denomination, which are the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms, the EPC Book of Order, and “Essentials of Our Faith.”
